Photo Post: Manila Week 1

Hello party people!
We figured it was time for a photo post... so here is:
  • Our Journey to Work
  • Orientation at the Guesthouse
  • Ate Cathy and Ate Erlene playing at Monsoon
  • Korean Cooking Class
  • Our First Project

On our way to work we see SO many colors and SO many people.
It's both nerve racking and fascinating.
It is always an adventure in Metro Manila!
... especially during rush hour... which is never predictable...

Our first week was spent at the SILP Guesthouse doing orientation.
We met some lovely people and learned a lot!
Work is just sooo stressful.... ;)

Korean Cooking Class with Ate Ann was so fun! We made noodles and dumplings. Yummy (or Sarap!" as we say in Tagalog.
The Kisumu Project trains leaders from the Kenyan Deaf population
to reach their community with the Gospel in their heart language.
It is a kingdom cause that we are overjoyed to help with.
These are illustrations used in a fundraising video that Colin and I have been working on.
I illustrate, Colin animates... it's a beautiful team effort!
All in all, we are doing pretty well! We are sad to be leaving so soon for Malaysia, but we know that God will go before us. Please pray for our continued health and safety as well as our new relationships.

Love,
Rachel

Huntington Tour

Well the time to leave is getting close! We made a video to show what our life in Huntington is like to show to our host family in Manila, and to document this town that we have lived in for the last few years.
Enjoy!

The Parable of The two Debtors

Hey everybody,
This past Sunday I had the great honor of being able to teach at the 509 Community the passage Luke 7:36-50. The recording is available at the following link if you would like to listen to what I had prepared.

http://www.509community.com/audio/audiofiles/download.php?filename=Sunday_05_22_2011.mp3

It was a great week of preparation. I learned a lot this week through preparing to speak. The ending was really hard coming, and it was really awesome to see how God just taught me that its not about me wrapping up things perfectly and neatly, and that I should leave room for people to approach the text as well.

Enjoy, and thanks for listening,
Colin

Colin's Sermon

I didn't think that he would put it up himself because he's a bit shy, but here is a link to our church's website where you can download Colin's January 2nd sermon on Luke 1.

509 Community Audio List

It was wonderful to watch him prepare his heart and mind for the opportunity to teach his brothers and sisters in Christ. I think he did beautifully, and I know that God spoke through him. I couldn't be more proud.

Current Media Projects

Colin and I are keeping our skills sharp while we wait for our service with Monsoon Communications. I've been especially into photography lately while Colin has been doing a bit of Illustration while experimenting with photography, and making some music videos for a local band.  I thought I would share some of what we're working on. If you want to see more check out Colin's Art Blog (senicolin.og/blog )and My Tumblr. (rachelskye.tumblr.com)
